Description

Bake these gorgeous Red Velvet Crinkle Cookies—soft, fudgy, chocolate-kissed, and rolled in snowy powdered sugar for the perfect holiday crackle effect. Ingredients

Cookies:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/3 cup natural cocoa powder

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1/4 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (room temp)

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 tsp lemon juice

  • 1 Tbsp red gel food coloring

  • 1 1/2 Tbsp milk

  • 3/4 cup white chocolate chips

For Rolling:

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar


Instructions

  1. Whisk flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  2. Beat butter and sugars 2 minutes until creamy.

  3. Add eggs one at a time. Mix in vanilla, lemon juice, and red gel coloring.

  4. Add dry ingredients on low. Mix in milk. Fold in white chocolate chips.

  5. Chill dough 2 hours.

  6. Preheat oven to 350°F and line baking sheets.

  7. Scoop 1.5-inch dough balls. Roll in granulated sugar, then powdered sugar.

  8. Bake 12 minutes, rotating halfway.

  9. Cool on sheet 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack.

  10. Store airtight at room temp up to 3 days.

Notes

Natural cocoa gives the best red color.

Gel coloring works best for strong color without thinning the dough.

Swap lemon juice for vinegar if needed.

Make-ahead friendly! Freeze dough for up to 2 months.
